Pate Trio, into a quartet this New Year’s Eve, the
trio adds Canada’s
preeminent jazz trumpeter, Brownman to the
line-up. This special
New Year's Eve ensemble will consist of
luminious and highly
in demand New York City bassist DON PATE
accompanied by former
drummer for Chaka Khan and one of the
pioneers of Acid
Jazz, VICTOR JONES; mentor of R&B superstar
Alicia Keys and
creator of Jazzoetry, AZIZA MILLER; and Canada's
own Trinidadian
born multi-award winning jazz trumpet icon,
BROWNMAN.

Don Pate -

A respected and
revered bassist on the New York scene since the
50's, Pate has performed
with such musical luminaries as Sonny
Rollins, Roy Haynes,
Yusef Lateef, Ravi Coltrane, Jeff "Tain" Watts,
Gil Evans and Paul
Shaffer (of The Letterman Show). Most recently
he has recorded
on Anami Records with Brooklyn guitarist Tisziji Munoz.
Aziza Miller -

Aziza,
a composer, pianist, poet, vocalist, arranger and music educator is a YAMAHA
endorsed Artist.
She
was born and raised in NYC and is recipient of The Presidential Scholar
Distinguished Teacher
Award
from President Bill Clinton. One notable student of Aziza’s is Alecia
Keys. Her most popularly
recorded
song to date is "La Costa". Natalie Cole sung and recorded it during the
time when Aziza,
(who
was then known as Linda Williams) was her music director and pianist. She
has collaborated with
Ahmad
Jamal to name a few Aziza has worked with artists such as Marvin
Hamlisch, James Brown,
Linda
Hopkins, Marlena Shaw, Freda Payne, Alex Blake, Benny Powell, Russel Blake,
Buddy Williams,
Sonny
Redd, Rene McClean, Cecil Payne and Natalie Cole. In April, 2008, Aziza
appeared on
Oprah
Winfrey's Big Give at Carnegie Hall.
Victor Jones

Victor
Jones was born in Newark, New Jersey in 1954. His talent was discovered
by the great Lou Donaldson
in
1975. Since then he has toured and recorded with legends such as Stan Getz,
James Moody, Woody Shaw,
Freddie
Hubbard, Stanley Clarke, Phyllis Hyman, Stanley Turrentine, Masabumi Kikuchi,
Michel Pettruciani,
Dizzy
Gillespie and Chaka Khan. For the last two years, he has been touring with
acclaimed jazz vocalist
Jimmy
Scott.

Born
on the small Caribbean island of Trinidad, schooled in New York City under
Randy Brecker's watchful
eye
and now heralded as "Canada's preeminent jazz trumpeter" by New York City's
Village Voice magazine,

tirelessly leads no less than 7 highly respected ensembles of his own spanning
genres from be-bop to hip-hop.
Since
returning to Canada from NYC, he has been on the cutting edge of modern
music in the nation for the
last
decade, winning multiple awards nationally, achieving international recognition
while touring the globe,
and
widely considered to be a vanguard for the evolution of jazz in Canada.
Brownman is currently the
featured
soloist with the legendary New York City jazz-hip-hop artist GURU's JAZZMATAZZ.
