| The Trane Studio is proud to welcome, live and direct from Chicago for two nights of Afrocentric jazz in Toronto's soul jazz kitchen, Ernest Dawkins and New Horizons Ensemble.
Returning to Trane after his previous visit in March headlining our unforgettable tribute to Doug Richardson, Ernest "Khabeer" Dawkins is a critically acclaimed reedman, educator and musical ambassador who has recorded and/or performed with the likes of: Ramsey Lewis, Muhal Richard Abrams, Richie Cole, Jack McDuff, Joseph Jarman, Lester Bowie, Malachi Favors, Don Moye, Anthony Braxton, Adegoke Steve Colson, Kahil El-Zabar, Edward Wilkerson, James Newton, Henry Threadgill, Steve McCall, Fred Hopkins, Amina Claudine Myers, Douglas Ewart, Roscoe Mitchell, Charles Earland, Gene Chandler, The Dells, Jerry Butler, and many others. In addition to New Horizons, Dawkins is also a member of the Ethnic Heritage Ensemble (with Kahil El'Zabar), the Aesop Quartet and his own Ernest Dawkins Trio.
